Here is the final verdict reached by the judge at P. Diddy’s sentencing hearing held today in the US.

Sean “Diddy” Combs was in court for his sentencing hearing verdict after a jury had convicted him in July on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

The judge presiding over the case, Judge Arun Subramanian said he did not see a reason to deviate from the sentencing guidelines, which called for a prison term of just under six years to just over seven years.

Prosecutors had pushed for more than 11 years, while the defense had argued Combs should serve no more than 14 months.

In a last-minute move, Combs’ legal team released a documentary-style video showing his charity work and family, alongside a personal letter from Combs himself.

These stood in sharp contrast to the defense’s longstanding argument that he was not guilty and had been unfairly targeted by the government.Ahead of the judge’s decision, Combs delivered an emotional statement in court.

He began by admitting how difficult it had been to stay silent during the trial and said one of the hardest things he faced was not being able to express remorse earlier.

He apologized to Cassie Ventura and her family, to a woman he referred to as Jane, and to all victims of domestic violence, acknowledging that a disturbing video had resurfaced painful memories for many.

He admitted he had been sick from drug use, that he had needed help but had not sought it, and that he knew better because of the values his faith had taught him.

Reflecting on his downfall, Combs told the court he was not a larger-than-life figure but simply a human being who had lost his freedom, his businesses, and the chance to be present for his mother and children.

Fighting back emotion, he said he hated himself for the harm caused and offered a heartfelt apology to his seven children and his mother, acknowledging that they deserved far better.

He also expressed regret toward his community, admitting he had let them down. “I’m not this bad person,” he said, insisting that people can change and that he had changed.

What was the verdict of Diddy’s case?

The judge sentenced Diddy to 50 months in prison.

The judge who read his sentencing described Diddy’s actions during the verdict as a form of subjugation, emphasizing the lasting harm inflicted on the women involved.

“These offenses irreparably harmed two women,” the judge said. “You plied them with drugs. Why did it happen for so long? You had the power and resources to keep it going. You were more than a John.”

The judge stressed that a significant sentence was necessary to deter future misconduct. He noted that even after Cassie Ventura’s civil suit, after the release of a damning video, and after the federal investigation had begun, Combs still engaged in violent conduct, including what was described as a brutal hotel incident with “Jane,” during which he punched her in the head.

Citing Jane’s testimony, the judge recounted how Combs had instructed her to take a pill and perform sexual acts against her will, adding that the Court was not convinced such behavior would not happen again.

In his remarks, the judge even referenced the explicit language Combs himself had used with women. While acknowledging the rehabilitation programs Combs had participated in while in custody, the judge said they were outweighed by the trial record and the established pattern of violence.

He rejected the prosecution’s push for more than 11 years, saying such a sentence would not be reasonable.

At the same time, he dismissed the defense’s request for 14 months or time served, ruling that such leniency would be insufficient.

“Here, the data shows a wide variety of sentences,” the judge said. “Weighing all the relevant factors, the Court determines that the appropriate sentence is 50 months of incarceration.”
